Microwaves are our right-hand tools in the kitchen. You can cook most things in the microwave and even use them to defrost food and to reheat leftovers.

Although microwaves are capable of cooking some foods such as eggs from scratch, many of us don’t feel confident enough to use our microwaves for much more than reheating food. Fear not, I have some tips and advice for you!

I want to teach you how to cook Toaster Strudels in the microwave. Toaster Strudels are frozen breakfast pastries that need to be cooked before consumption. These convenient snacks are perfect for when you want a sweet snack throughout the day or something quick and easy for breakfast if you are in a rush.

By the end of this article, you will be a pro at making Toaster Strudels in the microwave. I also hope that once you try this method out, you will feel more confident to use your microwave for more than reheating yesterday’s leftovers!

About Cooking Toaster Strudels in the Microwave

The most attractive reason to cook Toaster Strudels in the microwave is that the whole process takes less than a minute; now that is convenience food! I suggest leaving out the icing and extras until after the Toaster Strudel is cooked as they get very hot in the microwave extremely quickly.

How to Cook Toaster Strudel in the Microwave

Ok, so a microwave is not the ideal appliance for cooking Toaster Strudels, but it sure is possible, not to mention convenient, especially if you want to take a Toaster Strudel with you to work. Follow these step-by-step instructions, and your Toaster Strudel will cook perfectly in the microwave.

1. Take the Toaster Strudel Out of the freezer

Do not take the Toaster Strudel out of the freezer more than five minutes before you plan on eating it. Toaster Strudels need to be kept chilled until they are made, so stick to this as best as you can to keep your snack fresh.

2. Setting Up

Make sure that the microwave is clean and odor-free, and place the Toaster Strudel onto a microwave-safe dish.

3. Put the Toaster Strudel into the Microwave

Put the Toaster Strudel (or Strudels) into the microwave and ensure that if you are making more than one, they aren’t overlapping.

4. Set the Microwave for 30 Seconds

Set the microwave timer for 30 seconds and start cooking. Don’t go too far away from the microwave, as you will need to keep checking up on your Toaster Strudel.

5. Check after 15 Seconds

Stop the microwave and check the Toaster Strudel after 15 seconds. It is also a good idea to flip the Toaster Strudel to allow it to cook evenly on each side. Now allow the Toaster Strudel to cook for the remaining 15 seconds.

6. Microwave for 10 Second Intervals Until Cooked

If your snack isn’t just right, microwave it in 10-second intervals and turn it over every time until it is cooked to perfection.

Why do Toaster Strudels Need to be Cooked?

Toaster Strudels are sold raw, unlike Pop-Tarts and some other leading breakfast pastry manufacturers on the market. Cooking pastry on the spot, rather than buying it ready-made, makes it taste a lot better, but it just means that you need to go through a few extra steps before enjoying your Toaster Strudel.

Other Toaster Strudel Cooking Methods

Toaster Strudels are traditionally cooked in a toaster, but you can also use a toaster oven or even toast the toaster strudel in a conventional oven if you prefer. As long as the pastry is cooked all the way through, then it doesn’t matter how you cook Toaster Strudels.

Some people have even started to air fry their Toaster Strudels to get that extra crispy texture that we all love. All you have to do is to set the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and fry it for approximately six minutes. Give it a try!

Toaster Strudel Toppings Ideas

Toaster Strudels are traditionally topped with a very simple icing, but that is not to say that you can’t go all-out and get creative. If you are looking for a cheap and easy children’s breakfast bar idea or for a way to make your snack a little more indulgent, then try one of these ideas:

1. Ice Cream

You can put a nice, big slab of ice cream on top of the Toaster Strudel and dive in, crunch up flakes of Toaster Strudel and sprinkle it over your favorite ice cream, or maybe make a Toaster Strudel and ice cream sandwich. As you can see, the options are endless, and you just need to decide how naughty you want to make your snack.

2. Jam and Fruit

A bit of jam and a few slices of fruit can really make the Toaster Strudel feel light and refreshing. Eating it with fruit will also make it more nutritious and filling to keep you going from breakfast until lunch.

3. Nutella

Do I even need to explain why softened Nutella is a great topping for Toaster Strudels? Give it a go and tell me what you think!

4. Cream Cheese and Jam

A thin slither of cream cheese, and frozen jam gives the Toaster Strudel an energy kick, and let’s face it, cream cheese and jam are some of the best pastry toppings and fillings to date.

5. Vanilla Glaze

Vanilla glaze consists of just three ingredients; confectioners sugar, cream, and vanilla extract. This glaze hardens as it dries, which gives the hot Toaster Strudel more depth and texture, plus it can be enjoyed on the go.

6. Peanut Butter

A thin layer of peanut butter on top of a jam-filled Toaster Strudel is a match made in heaven! Since peanut butter goes bad slowly, you can keep it in your pantry to go with Toaster Strudels any day.
