I’m a sucker for lemon juice. In fact, I would usually look for and buy fresh lemon juice whenever I’m in the mall.
But let me tell you that those freshly squeezed beverages aren’t really cheap. So last year, I decided to invest in a citrus juicer. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made because I was able to save a lot!
Don’t get me wrong as getting a citrus juicer isn’t as easy as it appears to be. I didn’t just go to a home improvement store and pick the first citrus juicer that I saw. I’ll help you find the right citrus juicer for you in this post.
Types Of Citrus Juicers
There are basically three types of citrus juicers. These are:
What To Look For In A Citrus Juicer
There are certain things you need to consider when you are buying this kind of kitchen gadget. Among these are:
Top 5 Citrus Juicers Available On The Market Today
I'll now list down five of the best citrus juicers today. I've segregated them into manual and electric juicers.
#1 Zulay Premium Quality Metal Lemon Lime Squeezer
This 2-in-1 lemon press and lime press is designed to juice large lemons and small fruits like limes and oranges. It is made of aluminum which is sturdy and durable. It also has a lead-free coating that is both safe and reliable.
It measures 8.7 inches long, 2.9 inches wide and 2.1 inches. It weighs just 10.1 ounces thus storing it should not be a problem at all. It’s small and lightweight enough to be stored in the drawer.
I find this lemon lime squeezer very easy to use. Simply place half of the fruit in with its cut side facing down. Then squeeze the juice out of the fruit by pressing the handles. There’s a separate strainer that gathers the seeds. Once you are done with it, simply clean the unit by rinsing it under the tap.
#2 Prepworks by Progressive Dome Lid Citrus Juicer
This citrus juicer can accommodate oranges, limes, and lemons. It has a dome lid that also works as a measuring cup. It has a non-skid base to prevent it from moving when you squeeze the fruit.
This is also a very simple and easy to use a manual juicer. You simply have to press the fruit against the dome squeezer. Then all the juice is gathered in the bowl. It’s so simple to operate that even
And once you are done, you can disassemble the citrus juicer for cleaning. You can rinse it under the faucet to clean. It’s quite easy to clean.
This citrus juicer is also compact enough to be stored in a drawer. It’s made of heavy duty plastic. It’s not as strong and durable as aluminum, but it’s sturdy enough to last for many years.
#3 BLACK+DECKER 32oz Citrus Juicer
This is a compact electric juicer that you can depend on when it comes to juicing citrus fruits. It is small with dimensions of 8 inches long, 5 inches wide and 9.5 inches tall. Despite its size, it can let hold up to a quarter gallon of juice.
It’s also very easy to operate. Simply plug the unit then touch the on/off switch, and the citrus juicer will do its thing. However, I wish that the cord is longer than it is.
You will also appreciate the self-reversing cone that ensures you can get the most juice as it switches directions with each press.
After squeezing every bit of juice from the fruit, you can immediately transfer the juice into a glass because the container also works as a pitcher. It even has a handle and spout--- talk about convenience!
#4 Cuisinart CCJ-500 Cult Juicer
This electric juicer has two outstanding qualities that will make you buy it. One is the pulp management feature. You can set the amount of pulp in your juice with this function. If you want more pulp in your juice, simply set it wide open.
The other thing you will love about this juicer is its Final Spin feature. It’s a feature that is very similar to the final spin feature in washing machines. However, this function lets you get the last juice out of the machine.
You should be able to use this juicer for a long time because of its stainless steel body. It’s tough and durable. As you would expect from an electric juicer, it has an audible sound although honestly, I don’t find the sound to be a concern at all.
#5 BLACK+DECKER 34oz Citrus Juicer
This is very much the same as the other Black and Decker unit although it has a slightly bigger capacity of 34 ounces. It features an auto reversing juicing cones that facilitates max juice extraction. There are small cones designed for small fruits like lemons, limes, and oranges. The large cone, on the other hand, is best for extracting grapefruit.
There’s also an adjustable pulp control, which you can alter depending on the amount of pulp you want in your juice.
This citrus juicer is made of plastic. Its container is clear thus you will be able to see the yield of the citrus fruit.
This is a good juicer to have although my only beef is the noise that it makes when it is in operation.
Now you might ask me: which of these juicers did you buy?
The Cuisinart CCJ-500 Cult Juicer was the unit I bought. The ease of operation was what made me buy it. I also found it to be quieter than the other electric juicers.
If you don’t use citrus juicer regularly, or just want to save money, a handle juicer is a perfect choce. I would suggest that you get the Zulay Lemon Lime Squeezer. It is easy to use, clean and store.
